This site was kind of created for myself to keep track of some of the beers I've been trying, as it's not that often I get to go to the specialty stores that have them...
I've been enjoying all kinds of beers for more than 15 years, but it has only been the last 5 to 10 years that I started really differentiating and caring about taste a lot more than price and how much I am able to consume in a short amount of time. After moving from Norway to New York in May 1999 I discovered that there are a lot of beers here without a whole lot of taste, that is when the big hunt for beers started, and the styles i favor is americanized IPA, strong on hops and bitterness.
Personal (Short) Beer Tasting Reviews
I like any kind of beer, but I love hops, so for this reason the most favorite "beer" is Bigfoot, not often, not much, just one pint a couple of times a year, like a very good port or something. So in general I only test beers that usually have a lot of hops, pale ales and IPA's. Beers like the most common american ones I dont review, I do drink them now and again, there is only a very few that I really try to avoid (like Coors Light, who cares if its cold when there is no taster?).

Beer Jokes
- The
CEO's of some of the biggest breweries in the world was meeting for
lunch at a 100-beers-on-tap bar in Long Beach California to discuss
some business, it was the CEO's of Anheiser/Bush, Coors, Miller, and
Guiness.
They sat down at a table, the waiter came over and introduced himself as Enrico Palatzo; "Would you like something to drink?" he asked.
The CEO of Anheiser/Bush ordered a Bud Light, the CEO of Coors ordered a Coors Light, the CEO of Miller ordered a Miller Lite, and finally the CEO og Guiness ordered a Glass of water.
After Enrico left, the CEO of Coors asked the CEO of Guniess; "You're not gon'a have a beer?", the CEO of Guiness replied apropriately; "Not unless you guys are"
Drinking and Driving
I am a Norwegian that emigrated to USA in May 1999, Norway has very strict alcohol and drinking/driving laws, USA does not, or at least, New York where I live, does not.
Personally I do not think you should drink anything before driving, in Norway that is how they educate kids and young drivers. In New York, They tell you how much you can drink and still drive, the drivers education that I had to take after moving here, more than 50% of it was related to how much you are "allowed" to drink before operating a motor vehicle. In my mind, this is a totally wrong way of attacking this issue.
People copmplain about how many americans get killed and wounded in action in Iraq and Afganistan, take a look at the statistic and see how many are drunk drivers are to blame for a much higher number.
Why is there a requirement to how many parking lots you must have compared to how much room there is in your bar?
Norway has legal limit of 0.02 alcohol/blood percantage limite, New York has 0.08%. An average man usually reach 0.03 to 0.04 with one beer, and tests show that one beer significantly reduces your reaction time in a car, and the chance of hitting a child running out in the road hightens exponentially with each sip.
In Norway if you are cought drunk driving, you loose your license for at least a year, you will serve jail time, and you get a fine that is at least 10% of your annual gross income. Implement that on a federal level in the US and I can garantee you that accidents and deaths related to drunk driving will be cut in half in two years. People wont stop going to bars, they will find other ways to get there.
If you get caught drunk driving a second time in norway, you loose your license forever, although you can apply again after 5 years.
Bottom Line - Embrace no drinking and driving - it is not ok
to kill your neighbours child because you only had two beers. And if
you had 4 beers and 2 shots, then a cup of coffee before driving, that
is BAD, and you need to be spanked :)
